Novatel

The first important thing is that you have a Novatel receiver with the latest firmware version. Please call your nearest OmniSTAR branch for the latest update. Some subscription possibilities will not work with old firmware!

Setup your Novatel receiver and switch it on. Make sure the receiver has a lock on the OmniSTAR satellite.

Important things OmniSTAR needs to know before they can subscribe:

1. Type of receiver
2. Serial number
3. Type of activation you require
4. Location
5. Firmware of receiver
6. Satellite service which the unit is locked onto.

To switch the satellite frequency of the Novatel Propak LB Plus via a Command-line interface:

1. Close all programs on the computer.
2. Connect the data cable from the black XYZ port of the Novatel to the computer.
3. Run the Command-line software (eg. Hyperterminal or Novatel CDU software).
4. In the Command line window type: assignlband omnistar
5. Press key
6. To save configuration, type: saveconfig
7. When this has completed successfully, call OmniSTAR for a re-subscription.

To switch the satellite frequency of the Novatel Propak LB Plus using the View8300 program:

1. From the main screen menu click Configuration -> DGPS service.
2. The Select DGPS service window (see figure) will pop-up.
3. Select OmniSTAR as the HP and differential source and choose the right satellite for your region or fill in a frequency and baud rate manually.
4. Clicking OK will send the changes to the receiver.
5. Clicking Cancel will discard them.

Below are the minimum receiver firmware requirements for OmniSTAR service. To download the latest firmware, check the Latest Firmware Versions information below.

• Download firmware:
  Firmware v.2.312s29
• Download software tools:
  View 8300
  Winload
• OmniSTAR technical note: Use View8300 software to identifying the firmware version.
