the correct satellite for your area appears.
Press the LEFT ARROW
to select this satellite and end the editing process.
Press the RIGHT
ARROW seven times until you reach the SAT
Status menu screen.
Use the UP and
DOWN ARROW to
scroll through the screens of this menu, making sure that
the satellite frequency and symbol rate, as well as the
name of its location, are the same as the satellite you
specified in the Service ID configuration.
Use the UP and
DOWN ARROW to
find the screen which displays your unit's OmniStar Serial
Number (#503XXX) and the number of days
left until your subscription expires (the field
should, of course, report 0.0).
OmniStar MUST THEN SEND AN ACTIVATION CODE (RSOC-Type)
OVER THE SATELLITE TO THE UNIT. WHEN RECEIVED, THE NUMBER
OF days left WILL UPDATE TO THE AMOUNT SPECIFIED
BY YOUR SUBSCRIPTION. IT CAN TAKE UP TO THIRTY MINUTES FOR
ACTIVATION TO BE COMPLETE. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE SYSTEM
BE LEFT ON UNTIL THE RECEIVER IS POSITIONING
DIFFERENTIALLY.
Press the DOWN
ARROW to return to the top of the SAT
Status menu. The screen should display lock
in the upper right corner and should display the satellite
you selected on the second line.
Pressing the DOWN ARROW
again will display the status of the signal as sent by OmniStar,
as well as a text representation of the code.
Pressing the DOWN ARROW
once again will display the satellite ID number and signal
quality characteristics such as signal to noise ratio (snr),
parity pass ratio (expressed as a percent with 100% being
optimal), and the number of differential corrections received
per minute (cpm). Finally, go to the HOME
SCREEN and verify that your receiver's position solutions
are being differentially corrected by the Sat Only source.
This is evidenced by a D
in the upper left corner of the screen and by SATXX
appearing in the upper right corner. The second line should
read Status: OK if your
receiver is operating properly.
