Power on your Hemisphere GPS receiver
Confirm the OmniStar VBS application is running:
Crescent Based receivers:
Part Number: 160-0234-000
File Name: GPSAppSX2_Omni_48K
Select the correct OmniSTAR regional spot beam:
R100 Series receivers: L-Band > Configure > Mode > Auto
Non-R100 Series receivers, via a terminal program, send (last character is a zero): $JFREQ,0
Locate the GPS serial number:
R100 Series: System Setup > Software Display > S/N 880123
Non-R100 Series, send: $JI
The first number in the example below is the serial number required for OmniSTAR activation:
$>JI,880123,1,3,09032006,01/06/2006,12/31/2018,3.5,31
Ensure the antenna has a clear sky view to receive the activation signal from OmniSTAR.
Ensure receiver is powered on.
Contact your local OmniSTAR office Customer Service Technician. Give them the GPS serial number.
Please note the receiver MUST stay powered on and tracking satellites during the activation process. Successful activation could take up to 30 minutes to complete.
Ensure the Hemisphere GPS receiver is powered on and tracking satellites.
Locate the subscription information:
R100 Series receivers: L-Band > Subscription > End
Non-R100 Series receivers, send: $JOMS
The bold number in the example below is the end date for the OmniSTAR subscription:
$>JOMS,DRY,ALL,VBS,0,01/06/1980,11/20/2019,0,0,7FFFFFFF,VBS 2.06
To ensure proper operation, contact your local OmniSTAR office Customer Service Technician prior to the end date given to renew your activation.
